The Tuileries Garden

The Tuileries Garden

The Tuileries Garden is almost one kilometre long beginning in the square Place du Carrousel and finishing in the square Place de la Concorde. The lands were bought by Catalina de Médicis in 1563 to have an English garden. Thanks to the work of Le Nôtre in 1663 the garden now has two vast areas crossed by central walk surrounded by big parterres furnished with sculptures.

It is the green area of the mayor cultural French group. It has preserved the essential elements of the original planned by Le Nôtre. Since its reconstruction in 1996, it is the most ambitious flowery area of Paris. The garden has also recreation; there are exceptional sculptures from the XVI to XX century. Among them there are 46 pieces from the XX century, historical and contemporary pieces from the sculptor Alain Kirili.

You can visit it individually or you can book a guided individual visit. There are also free group visits and guided group visits (also need booking)

You will find play areas, bookshops and a restaurant. Furthermore, there are organized pedagogical activities, workshops for the kids and cultural manifestations.
