Since the Sorbone was founded in the XIII century, the Latin Quarter has been synonym of university lifestyle. There you will find roman mortal remains like the Arénes de Lutece in the Pantheon located in the Saint Genova Mountain. On the other side of the mountain you will find the Place de la Contrescarpe, a place full of cafeterias. You will also find Rue Mouffetard, one of the most antique streets of the city made up by an open-air market and many cheap hotels (consider them if you are short of money).
It is certainly the most cosmopolitan neighbourhood of Paris.
