Eiffel Tower History

Eiffel Tower History

The Eiffel Tower was built in 1887 for the Universal Exposition to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution.
Finally, after winning the battle of public opinion that did not agree with the idea, it opened its doors the 31st of March of 1889.
It was believed that once the exposition was over the tower would be destroyed but that did not happened. The French Army made some tests with radio equipment in the highest part of the tower and they found another use to that tower.

Nowadays there are not only radio antennas but also television antennas. To go up this tower is every tourist wish but only those who have the courage will do it. The tower has 1665 steps or an elevator in case you are not into the stairs option.
You will be able to buy some souvenirs and eat in the two restaurants located in the tower.
